CTRL-ALT-L fix w/ Intel Graphics 82845G
I recently noticed that the CTRL-ALT-L key, which is the keyboard shortcut to reformat code in IntelliJ IDEA, wasn’t working for me on one of my laptops.
I thought some other app might be intercepting it and tried disabling all kinds of things before finding this very obscure solution.
It’s used as a “hot key” by the Windows driver for the Intel 82845G graphics controller. See the Intel support note on this topic .
The fix:
From the desktop, right click Properties then Settings | Advanced | Intel Graphics Tab | Graphics Properties | Hot Keys | Uncheck the Enable Hot Keys button.
And Viola! (sic. )
