The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

by Mark Haddon (New York, Vintage Contemporaries).
A quick read and entertaining. At times the autistic young hero‘s voice is a bit grating and his mathematical, scientific, and philosophical excursions are a bit shallow, yet still interesting. All in keeping with his character certainly. It was painful to be reminded of the academic reactions to Vos Savant‘s Monty Hall problem and solution. The solution to his "A Levels Maths" exam problem in the appendix applies the lesser-known converse of the Pythagorean theorem, (at least I had forgotten about it).
